Tech Info:
GiddyUp Link System - When Transition set out to design the new family of trail bikes, they wanted to improve their suspension bike pedalling performance, but they didn't want to lose the neutral and comfortable feel that Transition Bikes are known for. No one at Transition wanted a suspension system that felt like it was locking out, or provided any "kick back" in the pedals. Transition’s Giddy Up link is specifically tuned with a moderate amount of chain growth which is highest at the sag point and decreasing deeper into the travel. Because of this finely tuned wheel path, the new models have a notable increase in traction when climbing, without the rider noticing the chain growth fighting the suspension movement.

The ride feel of Transition’s Giddy Up Link bikes will be familiar for any previous Transition rider, but with a big improvement in suspension performance. Their new models are designed to be active while climbing; increased compression damping or rear shock platforms are not required with the Giddy Up link. The suspension remains free to smooth out the trail, improve traction and control without sacrificing any efficiency. There is no need to think about flipping switches; start your ride with the shock open and leave it there. With Giddy Up you can focus on the trail, not your remotes, levers or knobs. Just grab your bike, Giddy Up and go.

Reviews:
"With the shock wide open, bombing down very rocky runs like Geronimo on Phoenix's South Mountain was a blast. We were able to easily lift the bike and place it where we needed it to be, and the larger diameter wheels took away a large degree of the harshness from the boulders strewn across the trail. It was as if we were riding a 140-150mm travel 650b wheeled sled, and the comfortable geometry kept us at ease when poor line choice would otherwise get us into trouble. The bike's ability to get our testers out of these moments unscathed was inspiring. Sitting a little deeper into the shock than normal gives the bike plenty of control and small to medium bump compliance, and only through the rowdiest chunk, big hucks, and large compressions are you really reminded that you're on a "little" bike." 4/5 stars - Vitalmtb.com Test Sessions: Full review here

"It was an all-day marathon machine that turned technical climbs into wheelchair ramps. The Smuggler packs a 130mm pike up front, and has Transition's reputation for shredding behind it. So we climbed into the saddle with guns blazing and none was disappointed. It wasn't as simple as just calling it 'lively' or 'playful.' The relatively slack front end and soft rear end devoured the loose, mid-sized chop covering our trails, keeping the tires on the ground through the twisting chutes that send similar bikes sliding." - Bike Magazine, The Bible of Tests: Full review here

"I probably flew downhill faster than on any 29er with comparable travel. And there's no way to quantify it, but I certainly had more fun." - Bicycling Magazine: Full review here
