Rostra Caliper Centaur Bike The new Rostra Caliper is the evolution of Tifosi's ever popular CK7. It is the perfect aluminium all-season bike that is capable of handling year round British weather, long commutes and fun weekend rides. A Lightweight 6061 T6 aluminium frame ensures excellent ride characteristics and durability alongside comfort-oriented geometry, while the unidirectional fork with 1-1/8" to 1-1/2" tapered carbon steerer gives precise steering but with the additional comfort that carbon fork blades give. The X44 headtube works with most modern tapered forks and aids handling, future-proofing the bike for years to come. Disc fitment is flat mount standard for hydraulic or mechanical and 12mm thru-axles keep everything stiff and secure. Without mudguards the bike can take up to 38mm tyres, when fitted, tyre clearance allows for up to 35mm. The Rostra Caliper also has additional mounts for pannier racks if required. One By version of the Surly Straggler So what is this Straggler anyway? The easy answer is to say that we added disc brakes to a Cross-Check and this is close to accurate. People have asked us to make a disc version of our highly versatile Cross-Check for a long time now and almost everything about the two are very similar. Straggler is slightly different, though. The most obvious difference of course is that the Straggler has disc caliper mounts instead of rim brake studs. It'll accept rotors up to 160mm. The rear dropouts are unique, too. They're a partially closed horizontal design that accommodates singlespeed or geared drivetrains. They feature stop screws that thread in from the rear to further secure the wheel and to position the rear wheel for optimal shifting, plus a forward-mounted stop screw on the drive side to keep the wheel from slipping forward under the force of your gargantuan legs. The rear dropouts are spaced 135mm instead of 132.5mm like the Cross-Check simply because there are far more options for disc hubs in this spacing. Straggler shares all of the Cross-Check's braze-ons for fenders, racks and bottle cages. The Straggler's geometry is slightly different, with angles and tube lengths very close but not identical to the Cross-Check, but like the Cross-Check it's ready to take you just about anywhere. It's a day tripper and a weekender. It's a "rough road" road bike. It's a cyclocross bike with no pretense about racing. It's a utilitarian townie. It's a light-duty touring bike. It's an all-weather commuter. And when you get tired of one set up, you can swap parts around and turn it into something else. We think that's pretty neat. Ultra New hubs look much like their predecessors. In fact, the hub shells have not changed at all. They remain 6061 T6 forged and machined aluminium alloy with medium-height flanges. What's Ultra New about these hubs are their guts.Ultra New hubs use hollow axles of our own design mated to threading wheel fixing bolts, as opposed to the nutted axles of our previous hubs. Hollow axles make conversion to quick release super easy (remove bolts, insert QR skewer, install wheel into frame or fork, ride). All Ultra New hubs come with fixing bolts, but all are QR compatible without axle conversion or any other extra crap. Neato. The axles are made of CroMoly steel, while the fixing bolts are 10.9 stainless steel (i.e. high grade) for corrosion resistance, high strength, and good looks, and the bolts tighten and loosen with a 6mm hex wrench.Bolt caps and 'cone' nuts are also stainless steel, and are heavily knurled for good bite, reducing the chance for your wheel to slip in the frame under high load. The cones and dust caps interlock to maintain axle stiffness. Ultra New hubs spin on non-adjustable 6901 model bearings. An ever present headache with "normal fixed hubs" is the assembly of a drive cog that is attached by a thread being pulled in both directions by the pedal torque. Of course, the traditional solution to avoiding the cog unwinding itself from the hub in the reverse direction is a left hand threaded lockring, butted up tight against the cog. Halo Caliber 700c Road Rim

Halo's deepest-section rim so far. 38mm Deep Aero 700c rims.   16/8E explained: The hub offers an extra wide offset left hand non drive spoke flange (to increase the A-frame type support structure of the spokes to the rim) and counter balances the,common,resulting uneven spoke tension problem by having only 8 spokes on the heavily offset side vs 16 on the almost straight dished drive side. The rim and the hub have been specially drilled to accommodate the 16/8E configuration to result in the spokes being "Evenly" spaced in the rim's circumference. All of the rear spokes are "crossed" to provide a tangential structure to spread the drive torque throughout all of the 24 spok es (rather than having some spokes in a radial configuration that are unable to effectively help transfer torque drive from the hub to the rim). Halo's theory being that if you spread the drive torque over all 24 of the rear spokes (rather than just some of the spokes on the drive side alone), then this further divides it up, and thus reduces the torque transferred to each spoke.
